Bakhoor Al Afzal 70g - El Nabil

Bakhoor Al Afzal is the floral one in El Nabil's incense range: a woody and amber composition opening onto a heart of rose, lily of the valley and jasmine, settling on musk.

That floral heart is what separates it from a straight oud bakhoor. Where a pure oud burns dark and resinous, Al Afzal keeps a lighter thread running through it — closer to a perfumed room than a smoked one. It suits a living room, a guest room or a bedroom rather than a formal majlis.

How to burn it. Light a charcoal disc and wait until it greys over. Add two or three chips, no more. Ten to fifteen minutes of burning will scent a room for several hours, and the residue on fabric lasts longer still.

A note on quantity. The commonest mistake with bakhoor is generosity. Too many chips at once produces smoke rather than fragrance, and the floral notes are the first thing you lose when it burns too hot.

Presented in its own container. Keep it closed between uses — the natural oils that carry the scent evaporate once the chips are exposed to air and heat.
