Base: vanilla, amber, dry woods, benzoin, labdanum

Coffee against iris

That pairing is what separates this from a plain vanilla oriental. Coffee is bitter and roasted; iris is powdery and cool. Set against each other in the heart, they hold the vanilla base back from turning simply sweet, which is why the composition reads as sophisticated rather than as a dessert.

How it wears

Two sprays, then ten minutes - the pineapple and pepper are loudest at the opening, and the composition settles into the coffee-iris heart afterwards. Day or evening.
