Nabeel works with chips rather than a fully compressed block, which changes how the bakhoor burns: chips catch more slowly and release their scent over a longer stretch, which is why the house frames this as a ceremony rather than a quick spray.

How to burn it

Prepare glowing charcoal in a mabkhara. Place a piece of bakhoor on it once the charcoal has caught properly - not while it is still flaring. Let the fragrance fill the room, then extinguish the charcoal safely under a ceramic lid rather than leaving it to burn out.

A fingernail-sized piece is enough for a room; more produces smoke rather than more fragrance. Walk clothes and hair through it to carry the scent, then ventilate.
