Oud, and why it takes time

Oud is the most demanding material in Arabian perfumery and the least immediate. Judged from the nozzle it reads far louder and harsher than it will on skin an hour later - resins need body heat and time to settle. Anyone who dismisses an oud in the first five minutes has not smelled it yet.

How to wear it
