Lactonic, and why it matters

Lactones are the materials that smell of milk and cream, and they are what give this its texture rather than its scent. Pistachio and hazelnut at the top are nutty and dry; the lactonic heart turns them creamy, and that shift from dry to creamy over the first hour is the whole character of the fragrance.
