El Arrous — the bride in Arabic — is El Nabil's rose-saffron oriental, and one of the warmest things the house makes.

Rose, saffron and caramel open together rather than in sequence: the saffron leathery and slightly bitter, the caramel sweet, the rose holding the middle between them. It turns woody and smoky from there, on patchouli, cedarwood and cashmere — that smoke is what stops the caramel from becoming a dessert.

How it wears

Eau de parfum. Deep and intense with a lasting trail. Saffron-rose is the most recognisable pairing in Gulf perfumery, and this reading is on the sweet side of it. Evening wear and cooler months; in summer heat, apply less and lower on the body.
