La Rouge Baroque by Maison Alhambra is a saffron amber floral unisex eau de parfum: juicy sweet notes and saffron at the top, white florals with orchid and violet at the heart, woods, amber and musk at the base. One hundred millilitres.

Orchid and violet together

That pairing in the heart is what gives this its softness. Orchid is creamy and slightly powdery on its own; violet alongside it adds a cool, slightly sweet facet, and together they sit gently between the saffron opening and the amber-musk base.

How it wears

Two sprays, then wait: this is a fragrance that projects further than it seems to at the nozzle. One or two sprays is genuinely enough - the airiness of the composition carries across a room even though it reads restrained up close.
