Shaghaf Oud by Swiss Arabian is an oud eau de parfum: saffron and oud at the top, rose, praline and oud again at the heart, oud and vanilla at the base. Seventy-five millilitres.
Oud at every stage
Most oud compositions save the material for the base; here it runs through top, heart and base alike, with rose and a praline sweetness in the heart keeping it from turning purely austere, and vanilla softening the close.
How it wears
Two sprays, then wait: the saffron-oud opening is loudest first, and the oud-vanilla base is what carries through the rest of the day. Evening and cooler months suit its considerable weight.
